Chelsea Flower Show 2009
Masters proudly designed and produced specialist timber work for the 'Perfume Garden'; an amazing garden design that won a gold medal. We worked alongside the main contractor Willerby Landscapes. The garden was designed by Laurie Chetwood and Patrick Collins and was designed to demonstrate the potential of sustainable design and illustrate the diverse range of plants that are used in the manufacture of perfumes. The development began the year before installation. We modelled the concept using our design software and then produced manufacturing drawings ready for construction in the workshop. Full scale elements were manufactured for design approval. Using sustainable timbers, a central column was produced with a tangential 26 metre spiral wall. Around the central column was a unique deck, following the shape in spirals and tangents. The process included producing individual CNC paths for each plank; complete with predrilled fixing points and detailed grooves all following a spiral design around the circular drum. |
